OK,girls,I decided to start this thread in order to find another cultures and traditions!!! So,what countries are you from? And what are your traditions, specific food, music, etc?
I'll start!!! I'm from Romania,Eastern Europe-well,it's a very beautiful country-really-you should come and visit it one day-we have all forms of relief-mountains,sea,fields,rivers,lakes,etc-i guess we have a green country!!! candybar/laughing.gif
The rural architecture, the national costumes, the utilitarian units, the dances and the folk songs are almost the same as those 2000 years ago. The Romanian people experienced numerous barbarian invasions, and empires tried to conquer its homeland, but it tried to preserve its spirituality by keeping its faith and culture untouched. This is the way it succeeded in remaining an island of Latinity in a Slav ocean. The customs and the traditions of the Romanians are as old as the people itself. "MARTISOR" is the common name not too easy to pronounce by foreigners - of the month of March, but also of a custom, which symbolizes that spring has come.To emphasize this event better, an amulet has appeared: first a cod made of two threads of cotton, white and red tied to a pierced gold or silver coin. It was offered to children, girls and women. The color red symbolized the blood and life itself, while white, the purity of the sun and the first flowers. The gift was meant to bring health, beauty - in fact the three main conditions of happiness.
If you want,i'll tell you more!!!
Here are some pictures of my country, traditional objects and the village people:
